Have you found yourself craving for a street BBQ you got used to growing up in the Philippines? I did try all the Filipino BBQ recipes I find online. Some are just way too complicated but it doesn’t really fit the kind of authentic taste I am looking for. Finally, I just did this on my own and find it pretty close to the BBQ I grew up with. Pretty simple and quite familiar with the street BBQ I got used to.
Ingredients
1 lb beef/pork/chicken
1 cup soy sauce
1 can Sprite/ginger ale
1/4 cup banana ketchup or tomato ketchup
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp Oyster Sauce
1/2 tbsp pepper corn (crushed)
1 tsp pepper powder
Procedure
- Mix together soy sauce, Sprite/ginger ale, ketchup, sugar, oyster sauce, pepper corn and pepper powder in a flat container.
- Put the meat and marinate it for an hour.
- Thread the meat in the skewers and grill.
- Use the marinated sauce to constantly coat the meat throughout the grilling process.
- Serve and enjoy.
Tips: You can mix vinegar, soy sauce and lime for the dipping sauce. Just add chili pepper if you want it spicy.
